In August 2003, the Institute of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine was founded and enrolled the first class of graduate students. As the only institute concentrating on emergency and critical care medicine and related fields in the world, it aims at training professionals engaged in research in emergency and critical care medicine and related fields. Ultimately, the Institute hopes to develop professionalism among personnel in clinical care, education, and research in emergency and critical care medicine and related fields, thus achieving the goals of promoting the quality of health care, education, and research in emergency and critical care medicine and related fields in Taiwan. 

Since August 2017, the first class of PhD students have been recruited. It is expected to cultivate professionals who are doing more in-depth research in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine and related fields. After graduation, they will continue to increase the depth and breadth of relevant research in the professional field.
